Description:
28th January 1985. View of Marsh Lane showing the junction with Shannon Street on the right. No. 86 and 88 in the centre are vacant, boarded up buildings. Next to these is Hughes Funeral Services at no, 90 - 94, then the Woodpecker public house. On the left is the junction with York Road, with a road bridge running overhead.

My mother[Mary cooney]was born in shannon street [c 1910].aparently there was a row of cottages on the left,she had 12 brothers[so she said]and lived in two cottages converted into one.

The buiding in the centre was once occupied by james madden undertakers,my dad worked for him as a driver c 1947.the building on the far left was a pub,the name escapes me.it was a ind coop house,all demolished nowand built over .
