Domestic Street, Pleasant Mount Junction

Domestic Street, Pleasant Mount Junction
Description:
18th February 1980. View of Domestic Street showing the junction with Pleasant Mount on the right. A tattooist on the corner at no. 75 Domestic Street offers 'expert tattoo removal' and 'painless ear piercing'. An advertising hoarding for Asda supermarket covers the wall. On the left of the picture is Holbeck Mills Cash and Carry Carpet Warehouse, formerly the United Methodist Chapel. The junctions with Ingram View and Willoughby Terrace are at either side, with Willoughby Avenue further along and the gasholder in Wellington Road can be seen in the distance.

I think that tatooist building was called "Top of the Moor Picture House in the '50s. I have lined up many times to see movies from that time.

I lived in Oswald Terrace on Gelderd rd and used to walk up Domestic st to my Grandparents in Noster Hill in Beeston. This would be round about 1956/7 and Holbeck Mills Carpet shop was there then!
