Middleton Hall, Gatehouse, Town Street
Description:
2005. This property was once the gatehouse to Middleton Hall, and is located in Town Street. St. Mary's Churchyard is off camera, right. Middleton Hall was the seat of the Brandling family until 1745. The stonebuilt gatehouse has been rendered in a light colour, but apart from that, has changed little since the 1920s, (An image from that era can also be viewed on the Leodis website).

I remember this house from my childhood it used to scare us silly, It always seemed that on our way up from the park there was a very old woman staring at us from behind the window curtains.People used to say she was a witch.

The lane between the house and the churchyard led down to the park and came out near the tennis courts. There were two ladies living in the house in the 50s and 60s they were "The Misses Crow".My mother knew them and they did look a bit scary. They were always dressed in black but very pleasant ladies providing you were well behaved!
