My father was Cyril Gill butcher and we lived at 28 Sissons avenue. When we moved in ?1952 Mr. Brogan had died and there were some of his chest x-ray plates on the bedroom floor! I was 11-12yrs. at the time and found them fascinating. Our next door neighbours were the Aldreds but when they retired their daughter and family took over. They were the Earnshaws. The Thornton's were followed by their son Harry and his family. Harry tried his hand at making icecream as a commercial venture and I was lucky enough to be a 'taster'. I don't remember whether or not he was successful.I agree with B Oakes, Thompson's fish and chips were the best!

Me and my family lived and worked in the off licence in the middle building. My parents had been in this building for around 20 years. Its amazing to see what it was like in 1939 to now. So much has changed. Good memeories. This shot was taken around the time that we had sold the buisness. I moved out with my family a day before my 13th birthday. I was born and raised in that house. Take another picture now and see how different it is. Thanks
