Image shows the Church of St. John & St. Barnabas , built in brick in the 1930s. Before the 2nd World War the undercroft was used for schooling and social events. In 1998 local people got together and the idea of a Family Centre was born. The Lotteries Community Fund supplied the finance, the total cost was £568,000. Building commenced in June 2002 and Belle Isle Family Centre opened in 2003. A ramp and lift gave full access to users with special needs.
