The vicar here at St John and St Barnabus was Revd Charles Jenkinson when I went to school in the basement from 1945 until I moved on to Hunslet Carr County Primary School. I also attended brownies in the church building in the 1940s when the brown owl was Miss Wales. She had a shop on the Belle Isle parade.
