Belle Isle Road
2005. View of the dual carriageway Belle Isle Road, looking in the direction of the City Centre. It is a potential corridor for the route south from the city of the proposed Leeds Supertram.

User Comments:

The grassed central reservation was the trackway of the original tramway down Belle Isle Road.

My Auntie Lizzy Reedman lived at no 25 in a new council house on the right hand side of the road. During the school holidays, in the 1940s she would meet me every Friday outside the News Theatre in City Square, took me to Belle Isle for the morning and put me on the tram back to meet my mum. I would have been around 6 or 7 and the fare was 2d for a half fare return with a big pink ticket.
