2005. View of the Leeds branch of Country Baskets housed in Ardsley Mills, the former premises of worsted spinners, Thomas Ambler & Sons. Country Baskets are wholesalers for imported artificial flowers, pottery and giftware. Country Baskets is situated in Bradford Road.

While looking at todays top 50,which this picture is one of them. My wife has just read in the yorkshire evening post, that the company owners of this establishment, Paul Spencer aged 43, and his wife Linda aged 59. Were tragically killed in a helicopter they had just bought. He had apparently just gained his licence. They were returning home in high winds on Saturday, 26-Jan-08 at about 4-30pm from the Rudding Park Hotel between Leeds Harrogate. They came down on a golf course. How very very sad. 28-Jan-08.

I used to visit these premises whilst working as a vending machine service engineer. Another one of my calls was to Douthwaite's in Hunslet, and eventually they were taken over by Country Baskets. A family friend who travelled round craft fairs selling under the name Polyanna, bought her materials from here.
