Otley Road, tram
Description:
Undated. View of Horsfield no.231 tram at Lawnswood terminus on Otley Road, before the reserved track was laid. The tram is bound for Roundhay and carries an advertisment for Stylo Shoes.

Leeds City should have held on to the trams they were big people movers, they could move 30to40 thousand from Elland Rd in no time,and in a lot of parts in the city they had there own rigth of way.

Don Smith is so right, the trams were fantastic. My father was a tram driver before the war, he told before the war there had been plans to take the trams underground in the city centre, and out of town run on tracks segregated from other traffic. Of course after the war the nation was skint and this plan was shelved. However I cannot understand why Leeds has been denied funding for the supertram, when smaller cities such as Sheffield and I think Nottingham were granted funds. With a population of nearly 750,000 and the U.K.s third largest city, Leeds surely should have such a system.
