Spent many happy hours trainspotting in Central Station as well as City Station. We could buy a Penny Platform ticket in those days and take a train to another station somewhere and stay on the polatform til we decided to come back to Leeds hand in our ticket and go home

I must agree with Peter, me and my mates used to go to York on a penny platform ticket and to ensure we were legal, buy a platform ticket there too. A great day out running from platform to platform viewing the trains and trying to get the drivers to let us on the engine footplates.
