1964. View of the Middleton Colliery Railway Extension from Moor Road to Balm Road Sidings. The engine in the picture is the John Alcock, a diesel which was locally built in 1932.

When I was working at Hunslet Engine Co in the 60's, John Alcock (The Managing Director) walked up the 'gun-shop' wearing a silver Beatle wig !-We had been warned by management, not to laugh under ANY circumstances ! -Stifled mirth ensued......-We needed our jobs !
