View of Morrell Street at the junction with Roundhay Road. This is a street of red brick terrace homes, one of several which ran parallel to each other in a triangular section between Chapeltown Road and Roundhay Road. To the left, at the junction off camera, stood the public library now West Yorkshire Archives Services. Off camera, right is the site of Thomas Danby College, built at a later date in 1977. At the top of Morrell Street further terraced homes in Tramway Street are visible. In the foreground British Rail display posters advertising rail trips to Dublin and weeekend tickets to various destinations in Scotland. Another invites you to 'follow your team.... by rail'. On the right, a sign on the gable end indicates the business of E.W. Oxley & Sons, Painters and Decorators, Signwriters and Makers, at 14A Morrell Street. The odd numbered side of Morrell Street is to the left, the backs of houses on Roscoe Road. The even numbered side is to the right, these went through to Artillery Terrace.
