Description: 26th October 1966.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Alderman J.S. Walsh, and the Mayoress at the opening of the new wholesale fish, fruit and vegetable market on Pontefract Lane, one of two wholesale markets on neighbouring sites that were opened on the same day, the other being a meat market. The fish, fruit and vegetable market was designed by Mr. E.W. Stanley, Leeds City Architect, in association with John Brunton and partners, and built by Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons (North Eastern) Ltd at a cost of about £1m.
