c1905 Image shows the Barker family in front of their home at number 2 Rugby Avenue. This was a back-to-back, double fronted brick built terraced house off Rugby Road. Adolphus Parkin Barker, known as Dick, was born in c1869 and was the son of Addyman Parkin Barker. He is seen here with his wife Annie, and two small children, Edwin, left, born 1904 and Ada, right, born 1901. Adolphus was a keen amateur photographer. He worked as a Woodturner and Bobbin Maker with his father at number 13 Borough Mills Yard, Great Wilson Street. The little boy is perhaps holding a wooden bobbin. The family later moved to a house with gardens at number 11 Brick Row.
