Gelderd Road, rhubarb field
June 1965. Here a field of rhubarb has been let go to seed with the seeds growing to the height of the rhubarb sheds and obscuring them. People are hoeing between the rows in the field beyond. The field in the background in front of St. Bernard's Mill chimney has rows of peas in different stages of growth. Right on the horizon is Highfield Mill at Gildersome and the path over Hart Hill. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.
