Springfield Road, mobile library
April 1969. At the end of the 1960s Morley Town Council decided to extend the scope of the library services in the Borough by purchasing a vehicle to cover a regular weekly pattern of routes. Here it is on its first run out at the junction of Springfield Avenue and Springfield Road. Mr. Gerald Grace, the Deputy Librarian to Mr. Richard Benjamin, is standing at the entrance to the new vehicle. The mobile library was a success and kept on after 1974 following the merger with Leeds City Council, though the vehicle was painted in a different colour scheme.
