This takes me back to my childhood; swimming lessons here on a Thursday morning from East Ardsley Sec Mod and then a return visit with the Main Street gang on a Saturday morning. The water was ALWAYS cold and the foot wash ALWAYS disgusting ! Still precious memories, though !

During swimming lessons, with Miss Munday from Morley Grammar School I dived for bricks and swam thousands of lengths. When it was your period you were allowed to sit on the side. Some girls had a period that lasted all year. We sang "Walking back to happiness" made popular by Helen Shapiro, "Love me do" or other popular songs, as we walked back to school, our towels under our arms like wet Swiss rolls.
