Fairfield Avenue is the row of houses on the right of the photo. In the 1930's I remember as a small boy walking up Baghill Road from Hill Top to here with my father. This is where the local midwife (Nurse Preston) lived in this row of houses. In those days hardly any one had a car. And once my mother had gone into labour it was Fathers job to get the mid wife as quickly as poss as most people had home births in those days.
