Barras Row, the Barras family
Description:
c1910. Portrait of the Barras family in Barras Row, Westerton Road. Clifford Barras was the official undertaker in the village and also at one time musical director for Morley Amateurs. Three women wearing white starched aprons stand alongside two men in three piece suits and cloth caps. Two little children, a boy and a girl, are seated on the windowsill, each holding a small dog. The gentleman on the left is believed to be Taylor Barras (my wife's grandfather) - the other gentleman being his brother Joseph Barras - who both inherited equal shares of the four properties known as Barras Row.
