Westerton Road, Peter Woollin and friends photographed outside the village shop
c1920. Image shows Peter Woollin and friends posing for a photograph outside the village shop in Westerton Road. The tiny girl holding the hand of the shopkeeper is Rhoda Grey. Peter Woollin, who later became Mayor of Morley, is seated at the right end. Seated next to him is George Buttrey who became an Ardsley councillor. It was a general purpose store and jars, perhaps filled with sweets, are visible in the window. The window shelves have been given decorative edging. In later years the shop window was bricked up. Image used courtesy of Peter Aldred. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.
