Undated. Early image of Tingley gasworks. It shows the pipework transporting the coal gas from the retorts at Tingley. Photograph from the david atkinson archive.

the mains shown carries the waste gas from the producers which heated the retorts where the coal gas was made, these mains went through to the waste heat boilers where the waste heat was used to create steam used in the process the gas was then vented to atmosphere.
