Image shows the memorial to the crew of the Halifax bomber which crashed during a night training exercise over Tingley on 14th November 1944. The names of the men killed in the crash on 14th November 1944 are inscribed on the memorial which is close to the site of the crash - near to the old entrance of Thorpe Lane. They are as follows: C.W.R. Millard, pilot; A.F. Simpson, air bomber; V.T. Spragg, navigator; W.P. Kendrick, flight engineer; A.W. Payton, air gunner; K.E.D. Saines, air gunner; J.
