C1960s. View of Smith's Chemists at at number 10 Cross Hills looking towards Butt Hill. In the centre, the Royal Oak Public House can be seen at number 2 Cross Hills. At one time this building was Kippax House, the home of the Clayton family, well known locally; it was also for many years a G.P.'s surgery, where it is said that the cold rooms in the cellar were used as a mortuary.
