Image shows the old Church Institute in Chapel Lane, seen here from Townend Yard off the High Street. The rusticated effect is peeling off the walls to reveal the brick work beneath, and the building is in a state of disrepair. It dates from 1883 when it cost £1000 to build. Members had access to daily and weekly newspapers and make use of the Library containing 500 volumes. A sign at upper storey level right says Kippax Open Youth Club.
