Cross Green Lane, Tank
1940's View of a tank on Cross Green Lane, just past Snake Lane, during the Second World War. The building in the background is believed to be the colliery offices.

I always thought that 'Tanks' had revolving gun turrets. This one hasn't. Further, it has a very short gun-barrel for a tank. Could it be that this machine is a' Full-Track Armoured Car'?

John Steel

It looks like a Sexton Self-Propelled Gun
