Central Library, Reference Library

Central Library, Reference Library
C1993-1994. View of the Reference Library on the second floor of the Central Library, looking down from the balcony to the reading tables below. The presence of a few computers on one of the tables shows the early stages of the information technology era. Having been the Reference Library for many years, then the Business and Research Library following a merger with Information for Business, this area underwent a major change in 2007 to become the Local and Family History Library, with Business and Research moving to the opposite end of the second floor.

I spent many an hour studying in this room in the 1960s and 70s. Most of my time, however, was spent in the Library Of Science And Technology on the ground floor.
