Municipal Buildings, Leeds City Museum, following closure
August 1999. View of empty and stripped down cabinets in Leeds City Museum on the first floor of the Municipal Buildings, after it moved out of the building when it closed for improvements. The museum, formerly based on Park Row, opened on this floor, which previously housed the City of Leeds Police Headquarters, in 1969. After closing here, the exhibits were transferred to the Museum Resource Centre in Yeadon. Work is currently underway on a new Leeds City Museum in the former Civic Theatre building, due to open in 2008. When the Central Library re-opened in the Municipal Buildings in 2000, this became the new Arts Floor comprising the Art Library and the Music Library.
