C1970s. View of St. Mary's Church, one of the three 'Million' or 'Waterloo' Churches to be built in Leeds. The Million Act was brought in at the end of Waterloo to provide a million pounds to fund the building of new churches nationwide. The west tower contains a four - dial clock and a bell. The foundation stone was laid in 1923 and the Church was constructed in the Early English Style to designs by Architect Thomas Taylor. Photograph courtesy of Terry Cryer.

This is the church my two brothers and I sang in the choir from 1938 until about 1944. If we sang at some ones wedding we where all given a shilling not bad for 1938. Raymond Jones.
