Description:
C1970s. Images shows demolition in progress on Quarry Hill Flats which took place between 1975 and 1978. West Yorkshire Playhouse (built 1990), Quarry House (1992 - 1993) and College of Music (1998) and the B.B.C Headquarters (2004) now occupy the site. Photograph courtesy of Terry Cryer.

Very evocative image, all the hopes of comfortable,affordable homes reduced to this tangle of twisted metal. The skeletal remains of flats which saw families reared and all aspects of the human condition are a sad symbol of failure.
