31st December 1980. View of New Road Side looking in the direction of Leeds. Behind the high stone wall and trees on the left there is Sandywood Court, a complex of 30 flats, and, adjacent to it, St. Joseph's Nursing and Convalescent Home. The entrance to St. Joseph's is on Outwood Lane. The stone properties right of centre are at the junction with Throstle Nest View and 1 and 3. Throstle Nest View leads to Newlay Wood Drive and Newlay Wood Crescent.
