New Street, looking south.
Undated. A late 19th or early 20th century view of New Street, looking south towards Bradford Road. A corner shop can be seen on the right.

My Gt. Grandparents had a grocers shop at 12 New Street from 1887 to c1898/89. My grandfather and his two sisters were born here. My great grandfather had previously been a carrier, and my great grandmother was the shopkeeper according to their marriage certificate. The shop in the photograph appears to be on the corner of Whittaker Street, - number 12 was further along the street. According to Kelly's 1892 Directory there were also two butcher's shops in New Street as well as the two grocer's shops.

Number 12 New Street used to be a pub also. Does anyone know what it was called?
