South Leeds High School, Middleton Road
Description:
2007/8. Image shows South Leeds High School after its closure in 2006. It was opened c1959-60 when it was known as Belle Isle County Secondary School. Many people will remember it as Merlyn Rees. In this photograph demolition work has begun on the building. Former pupils now attend the new P.F.I. South Leeds School which opened in 2006 on a site adjacent to South Leeds Stadium.

Great to see the Belle Isle County Secondary School again. I went there in 1960 at the age of 11 and stayed on until I was 16. Had a good education there and played rugby. It was one of the best schools in Yorkshire for Rugby League.
