Description: August 1977.
View of Wood Vine Street, off Bradford Road, showing one of the last gas lamps to survive in Stanningley, a pre-war Foster lantern. On the right are houses numbered 14, 16 and 18 while at the bottom of the street is a farm building which is part of Wood Nook Farm. The farm has since been demolished and the site is now a small industrial estate. The gas lamp has also gone, replaced by electric around 1981, but the rest of the street is virtually unaltered except for recent road surfacing. Taken from the book 'When the Streets Were Lit by Gas' by Philip Croft Tordoff.
