Cape Mills, chimney shortly to be demolished
Undated. Image shows the large chimney belonging to Cape Mills at Farsley Beck Bottom. At the time of the photograph it was being prepared for demolition. Cape Mills had manufactured cloth for military uniforms throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Some of these cloths were exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.

My Grandfather lived in Beckbottom cottages when he first moved to yorkshire round about the time this chimney was built. He says after it was finished but before first use,you could for a small sum be hoisted to the top in a barrel.
