Undated. Image shows part of Newlay Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Newlay, looking in the direction of Leeds. This is a three rise staircase and one of 44 locks along the canal as it cuts through Yorkshire. Newlay Locks date from the late 18th/early 19th century and are Grade II listed.

I took this photograph in the summer of 1959.One of several pictures of Bramley that I took when I was a student-teacher in the Teacher Training Department of Leeds College of Art.
