Undated. View of Newlay Lock and canal overflow near Newlay. At the left edge Newlay Cottage is visible, and in the background, St. Helen's Works at the other side of the railway lines can be seen. This was the premises of Ross (Gelatines) Ltd. of Newlay. Newlay Locks, with a three rise staircase, are Grade II listed.

I took this photograph in the summer of 1959.One of several pictures of Bramley that I used to illustrate a thesis that I wrote on 'Bramley Quarries'as part of my examinations for my Art Teachers'Diploma when I was a student at Leeds College of Art.
