I remember the music teacher was Mr Skelton, the Math Teacher was Mr Jenner, the Science Teacher was Mr Nicholson, and I beleive Mr Stead did geography, I also remeber Mr Francis whom is responsible for teaching me to play chess. I used to walk to school from No 39 Tinshill View

I was 11 when I started at Moor Grange when it opened in Sept 1960 and I left in July 1962. The old West Park school on Spen Lane ceased to be a co-ed in 1960 and became a girls school only. A lot of the boys transferred to M.G. as a result. I made a lot of pals in my shortish stay. The Headmaster was Mr Matthews and some of the teachers I can remember were; Mr Esmond (French and Games); Mr Gaunt (Art); Miss Creek (Music) and Mr Luty (P.E.). The school only had a life of about 25 years before it was demolished. The site is now an ugly see-them-everywhere office "park". Very sad.

Like John Davies, I was one of the first students when the school opened. I remember John and the teachers he lists. I add Mr.Slater - chemistry, Mr. Dalby - maths, V.D. Clarke - english, Mr. Raddler - history. Mr. Esmond was one of the best teachers I ever had. I left for Canada in 1963 but have great memories of the school.
