Adel, aerial view
Description:
Undated. Aerial view of housing in Adel, taken around the 1950s or 1960s. Otley Road runs along the edge of the built-up area from centre right to top left. Holt Lane runs across the middle of the photo. Above Holt Lane, from left, are Kingsley Avenue, Gainsbrough Drive and Gainsbrough Avenue, crossed by Kingsley Drive at the top and Kingsley Road in the middle. Below Holt Lane are, from left, Broomfield and Whinfield, with Farrar Lane just visible at the bottom right. The Lawnswood Arms public house is seen facing Otley Road near the centre right, while Adel Methodist Church is to the left of this at the corner of Holt Lane and Gainsbrough Avenue.
