Undated. View of the concrete footbridge over Wyke Beck, which dates from 1950 and was built to replace an earlier wooden bridge. The camera is pointing in the direction of Wykebeck Valley Road and the bridge is situated near the site of the former Killingbeck Farm which later (1915) became the site of Killingbeck Smallpox Hospital. This is definetely not the Monkey Bridge. The Monkey bridge is further up stream, behind the flats (if they are still there) on Brooklands Crescent. As a child I knew the Monkey Beck, between 'the Farm' and Southparkway, like the back of my hand. I would say this bridge is the same vintage as the Monkey Bridge, which I was familiar with from the very early 50s.
