If this photo were taken today, it would show the ASDA at Killingbeck across the road. The location is now a traffic-light junction known as 'Paddy's crossing' and has had a memorial plaque mounted on stone to that effect. Note how here - in 1936, this part of York Road had no speed limit despite there being two hospitals - Seacroft and Killingbeck - only two-hundred yards away.

I lived on the Sutton Estate as a child and can remember catching the tramcar here. The shelter is for the cars bound for Leeeds and oposite was the stop for Crossgates. Just to the right of the street sign was the estate office wher gran went to pay the rent.
