Are there any photos of the opposite side of New York Road? In 1959 I worked as an apprentice comp. with my dad at W. Kristall Printers facing Tates. I remember a girl from their office called Diane Fox I used to meet her in the Hope pub for lunch on Fridays.

In the early 60s I worked at Tommy Greens on North Street as a coach painter, at lunch time a lot of the workers used to walk down to Tates for our lunch, they had a nice canteen and the meals were reasonably priced. At that time Green's were manufacturing road rollars and agriculture machinery which were hand painted by brush.
