Description: Undated.
Image shows a black and white engraving of Farnley Hall near Otley. The original drawing was the work of John Preston Neale (1780 - 1847), an architectural draughtsman. In 1818 he embarked on a series of drawings published in a book entitled 'Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentleman in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland'. At this time, Farnley Hall was the seat of Walter Ramsden Hawkesworth Fawkes (1769 - 1825) a politican and collector of art. He was a very close friend of the artist, J.M.W. Turner who often stayed at Farnley Hall. Several of his drawings and watercolours are part of the collection of Leeds City Art Gallery.
