Description: 4th October 2009.
Image shows road works on Belle Isle Road exposing the old tram lines. The view looks north towards Hunslet and Holbeck and beyond to the City Centre. The M1 passes over Belle Isle Road at this point. Behind the lamp post in the centre Bridgewater Place is visible, located in Victoria Road. It is built to a height of 32 storeys and was completed in 2007. Bridgewater Place is a mixture of offices, retail and residential and houses 200 apartments. To the left of it is the circular, brick clad tower at Granary Wharf which is almost at completion (November 2009). It is called Candle House and has 23 storeys and 160 apartments. The building, located on the canal side, is named after the candle and tallow packing warehouses which once existed here.
