Selby Road, High Street, first tram

The terminus was stiil here in the mid 30's when I used to catch the tram here. The terminus was later moved to near the Irwin Arms, presumably because of the congestion caused by trams stationary in the middle of the road. Tram passengers had right of way over other traffic when boarding or alighting and this was one of the arguments for trackless vehicules (trolley buses) which could draw up to the kerb. Leeds set up services with these for a time.
