Description: 14th March 2007.
View of the site of the former High Royds Psychiatric Hospital taken during its conversion to a residential village. It was opened in 1888 as the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum and closed in 2003. Many of the original Victorian buildings are now Grade II listed and cannot be altered too much in appearance, although many new houses and flats are also being built, and new roads are being laid out like the roundabout in the foreground.
