Description: Undated.
Image shows Yvonne Gascoigne as she crowns the May Queen at Barwick in Elmet. She took over this duty from her Grandmother, Laura Gwendolen Gascoigne, when she was no longer able to perform it. The estate supplied the Maypole and the Head Forester, Fred Evans checked it each year and renewed it when necessary. Yvonne Gascoigne was born in 1919, the daughter of Sir Alvary and Lady Sylvia (nee Wilder) Gascoigne. They also had one son, Douglas Wilder Gascoigne, who was killed in action in 1944. (Additional information by Bill Burlingham).
