Black and white postcard showing the War Memorial located on the east side of the Great North Road, opposite the Aberford Almshouses, south of the village. It originally commemorated the 24 men of Aberford who were killed in the Great War and was unveiled by Major General Sir Frederick W.B. Landon on 26th March 1922. The names of 10 men who were lost in the Second World War were added. The war Memorial is inscribed with the words 'Your Memory Hallowed in the Land You Loved'.
