Colton Road

Colton Road
Undated. Colton Road, on the wall of the cottages, in the centre under the eaves, can be seen the Templars Cross and the date 1732. This indicates that the property belonged to the Manor of Whitkirk, one of the Manors of Temple Newsam.

The cross also denotes exemption from having to use the kings mill to grind corn, saving on duty.
