Description: 25th June 2009.
View looking down Yeadon High Street with the Clothiers Arms in the foreground, left. In front of the Clothiers Arms is the bus stop for buses to Otley, Guiseley, Shipley and Bradford. Beyond the bus stop is the small car park in front of the post office and William Morrison's supermarket. Various shops and businesses can be seen on the right including Blockbuster's, with the blue sign, on the corner with Marshall Street. In the background, behind the Clothier's sign, the tower of Yeadon Town Hall is visible. Red road workings indicate the commencement of a £900,000 scheme financed by Leeds City Council to make the High Street more user-friendly for pedestrians. The footpaths will be resurfaced in Yorkshire stone with granite kerb edging. High Street traffic is to be restricted to a speed of no more than 20 mph and a CCTV system has already been installed. The work is being carried out by North Midland Construction and is expected to be completed by November 2009. The Yeadon improvements are part of a £13 million Town and District Regeneration programme.
