Image shows the construction of the new Bexley wing at St. James's Hospital, Beckett Street. It houses one of the country's largest cancer centres, the St. James's Institute of Oncology. The Bexley Wing was built at a cost of £220 million including specialist equipment. It opened in December 2007, welcoming the first patient on Christmas Eve. The Bexley wing provides 350 inpatient beds and employs 1600 staff.
